Fortunately the majority of the wild birds  that come here recover sufficiently to be released back into their natural habitat but inevitably, there are some that cannot be released. 

We aim to provide these birds and owls with a peaceful environment to live out their natural lives, either with ourselves or with well vetted, bird loving families.

We also care for captive-bred, non-native and birds that are too tame to be released. Some are taken in when owners can no longer care for them, some have been badly treated. We try to keep these at a minimum as some of the birds, especially the owls can live for many years in captivity. This allows the maximum space for wild critters.

All  of the residents are housed  in large aviaries where we  provide them with food, shelter, medical attention if required and a quiet life.

Our Haven is not open to the public as we do not have the facilities or staff to cope with running a visitor centre and we prefer our birds to have a quiet life.

The sanctuary started in 2005 with three tiny great tits. They were hand reared and then released. In 2008, we took in over 200 birds and had a survival rate in excess of 90%, In 2009,  the numbers rose to 400 birds with survival rate of approx 75%, the majority being released back to the wild, quite a few are still living at the Haven, albeit they are actually free.

Having charity status means that we can reclaim tax at base rate, giving us an additional 20%, assuming you have paid UK tax to the value of 20% f your donation. All you have to do is give us a little information  on a form which you will be redirected to...we do the rest.
