Supporting The Haven
We receive no official funding. All of our work is financed either by ourselves or from generous donations by the public. All offers of help are therefore gratefully received. There are numerous ways that you can support the haven, You could sponsor a bird, say a Tawny Owl or a Jackdaw. You can simply make a donation which will go into our general funds to be used either for caring for the birds or for building new aviaries. 100% of all donations go directly into the Haven. Volunteers are also welcome to lend a hand with cleaning aviaries or feeding the little ones. Donations of materials are very welcome too, Newspapers, towels, timber, wire mesh, paving slabs etc are expensive to buy so if you have any lying around that you don't need, we would be grateful for them. You could also help by fostering a bird, as long as you are prepared to learn and have time to devote to it.
Sponsorship There are numerous long term residents here and you could assist greatly by sponsoring one. Listed below are the various categories and annual prices. Once you have decided on the type of bird you would like to sponsor, simply click on the sponsor now button. This will add the cost into a "shopping cart" which will take you through a safe and secure payment system. Once your payment has been received, we will send you a certificate of sponsorship, complete with a photograph of the individual owl that you are helping, an information leaflet on the type of bird sponsored and one or two little "goodies" The sponsorship makes an excellent gift for people of all ages. If you require a name other than your own on the certificate, please email us with details and we will arrange it.

Projects The Haven hasonly been in existence since 2003 and was not envisioned to be as large as it now is. Because of this, we are having to make a lot of changes as we go along.We therefore have several ongoing projects at the Haven.
AviaryBuilding The number of resident birds and those needing temporary accommodation has grown substantially. We therefore have to build several new ones. More details can be found on the Building the Haven page
Bird Hospital/ Nursery Over the winter, we converted an outbuilding into a bird hospital. Previously, all of the young, sick and injured birds were either cared for in the house or in a donated caravan. The hospital has made so much difference already, giving a bright, warm cheerful space for the babies and poorly birds to recover and grow. We have a separate isolation unit for those birds with infections.
Babies We get many baby birds into the haven during spring and summer. To ensure that they have the best possible start in life, they are fed on a high quality diet. This proves very expensive. For example, to rear a baby blackbird to the stage where it can be released costs in the region of £50.
Gift Aid Having charity status means that we can reclaim tax at base rate, giving us an additional 20%, assuming you have paid UK tax to the value of 20% of your donation.
